Chisel

Hello world, I'm wide awake now
As wishing and as lonely as I need to be
Breathe the sigh, the sigh of how
I need to be more than what the mirror sees

I'm told that I'm a piece of work
More so than the many Picassos and Van Goghs
More so than the plants of the fields of birds
It's not what I see, it's where I should go

I'm younger and crying for a piece of peace
But prepare Yourself for what should you find
I know the greatest of me and the least of these
But it hurts You more to make my heart contrite

Then tell it to me here, straight to straighten my back
For me to know that You love me is more than choice wine
You red and pink and white will flash over this black
And soon I'll become lovely, because Your love is mine
