You Are...

Woke up in the morning and realized that you were old
This is your day to tell me how your story is told
A warm-hearted tale that will never get cold
Of how you came to be, and how I eventually will unfold

Born on a today, average in different time and town
I don't know what happened from then till now
So I will cut this pointless stanza short

How lovely it was to watch you hold tight
To life, to me, to God and and what's right
A hero in every way from selfless to insight
Picked me up and raised me to great heights

So will you sing a song with me forever
Of how you loved me through all my bad weather
Of all the ties that I could sever
You're impossible, you're my altogether

(For my mother. Happy birthday.)
