Doors Behind Hands

Is it so late and so wrong to ponder of that past hit and miss
So belittling of self esteem to wonder of how emotion broke promise
No perhaps not, no not one moment too late
But is it dangerous? Every bit as much as lightning comes tumbling down

I've never been so afraid to love like the rich to their money
Never so fearful to fall in likes and loves, life like lemons
It's nothing new, no one showing up at my hearts door
But you'd break my hope down if I ever dared try again

Well until my world grows old and weary
Until it calls out to me to search for that single heart to be crowned
Then maybe I can boldly walk that path and not trip over my two left feet
But until then, I don't think I should love like this again

Miss the slip, we're all going to find that scented wind
The lady of the long awaited, man of the long patient
Beyond this school of thought is something more to take us all home
Pray you find it, you'll have to cross the loves regardless
